Musée Espace Air Passion
About This Museum
Out here near the Angers Loire Aéroport in Marcé, tucked away from the main runways, you'll find a place that's a true labour of love for French aviation. This isn't some sterile, state-run institution; it feels more like a giant, bustling workshop where history is kept flying. Run by passionate volunteers, the air practically hums with stories of daring pilots and ingenious engineers. It’s the kind of spot where you can almost smell the oil and old leather.
Collection Highlights
You can get up close to a beautifully restored Jodel from the '50s, its fabric wings stretched taut, and see the quirky lines of a Fouga CM.170 Magister jet trainer that once screamed through French skies. The real stars are often the radial engines, meticulously rebuilt and displayed like mechanical sculptures.
Visitor Information
Since it's run by an association, it's best to check their website for opening hours before you make the trip—they can be a bit unconventional. The volunteers are usually around, and if you're lucky, they might just fire up an engine for you.
Architecture & Building
The collection is housed in a series of no-nonsense hangars—functional, corrugated metal buildings that feel perfectly at home on the edge of an airfield.
