Tucked away in a quiet square in Valence, this museum is a total surprise. You walk into this beautiful old building and are immediately greeted by these incredible Roman mosaics that just cover the floor. Then, you turn a corner and find yourself in this bright, airy modern extension with huge glass windows overlooking the Rhône River. It’s this amazing journey from ancient history to contemporary art all under one roof.
Collection Highlights
The collection is wonderfully eclectic, from delicate 16th-century paintings and Roman statues to bold, modern installations. Don't miss the room filled with Hubert Robert's dramatic landscapes; they feel like stepping into another world.
Visitor Information
It's really easy to find at 4 Place des Ormeaux, and last I checked, it was free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month—a perfect excuse to pop in.
