Moss Mansion Museum
About This Museum
You won't believe this, but the Moss Mansion has over 25 rooms, and almost all of the original furnishings are still inside, exactly where the family left them. Stepping through the front door feels like walking straight back into 1903, with personal items casually resting on tables as if the owners just stepped out for a moment. Itβs not a stuffy, 'look but don't touch' kind of place; you get to wander through the grand hall, peek into the cozy library, and even see the vintage stove in the basement kitchen. The sheer scale of it makes you wonder what it must have been like to call this sprawling estate home.
Collection Highlights
The mansion is packed with original belongings, from Mrs. Moss's elegant gowns and intricate beaded purses to the family's complete set of china and silver. Don't miss the stunning player pipe organ in the music room or the beautiful stained-glass windows that cast colorful light everywhere.
Visitor Information
You have to take a guided tour to get inside, which is actually great because the guides share all the best stories about the family. It's right there on Division Street in Billings, so it's super easy to find.
Architecture & Building
It's this massive red sandstone home built in a sort of mixed European styleβyou can see English Tudor influences outside, while inside it feels more like a lavish Italian villa with rich woodwork and ornate plaster ceilings.
