Mir Castle
About This Museum
It's hard to believe this fairytale fortress, rising from the flat Belarusian landscape, was once left a near-abandoned shell after the Napoleonic Wars. Today, its restored red-brick walls and Italianate gardens sprawl across a massive 27-hectare estate, creating a scene straight out of a storybook. Inside, you'll find far more than just empty halls; the castle breathes with history, from its opulent aristocratic apartments to its surprisingly spartan prison cell. Wandering its courtyards and climbing its towers feels like stepping through centuries of Polish, Belarusian, and Jewish history.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the grand portrait gallery of the Radziwiłł family who once owned it, or the recreated banqueting hall set for a feast. For something completely different, peek into the stark underground prison and see the intricate tile stoves that heated the noble rooms.
