About This Museum
People come to Mbuluzi Game Reserve for a wonderfully untamed, do-it-yourself safari experience. Instead of a guided vehicle tour, you grab a map and set off on foot through its beautiful, rolling landscapes of acacia-dotted grassland and quiet riverine forest. As you walk these peaceful trails, it's not uncommon to round a bend and find yourself face-to-face with a graceful giraffe or a herd of placidly grazing zebra and impala. The air is filled with the calls of over 300 bird species, from vibrant lilac-breasted rollers to massive fish eagles. You leave feeling like you've discovered a secret corner of Eswatini that is entirely your own.
Collection Highlights
The main 'exhibits' are the free-roaming wildlife you encounter on your hike: towering giraffes, strikingly striped Burchell's zebra, and various antelope like nyala and kudu. Birdwatchers will be in heaven spotting everything from tiny sunbirds to large birds of prey.
Visitor Information
This is a self-drive and self-guided reserve, so you'll need your own vehicle. Just pick up a map at the gate, then explore the network of dirt roads and walking trails at your own pace—it’s wonderfully flexible.
Architecture & Building
There is no grand building here; the 'architecture' is the natural landscape itself, with simple thatched rondavels for accommodation that blend seamlessly into the bush.
