Libromanía
About This Museum
You'd never guess that this entire city-block of literary wonder was once a series of crumbling colonial-era family homes. Now, the walls practically hum with stories, from the scent of old paper in the poetry wing to the hushed, creaky floorboards of the mystery novel annex. It feels less like a museum and more like you've stumbled into the world's most magical, shared library. They even have a room dedicated entirely to books that were banned or nearly lost to time.
Collection Highlights
Look for the tiny, hand-illustrated copy of 'María' from 1867 and a first edition of Jorge Icaza's 'Huasipungo' tucked away in a glass case. Don't miss the 'ghost shelf,' where visitors leave notes about books they can't find but desperately want to remember.
