Legacy Flight Museum
About This Museum
Out here on the high plains of eastern Idaho, just off the tarmac at the Rexburg Airport, you'll find a place that echoes with the sound of history. The Legacy Flight Museum isn't some sterile building; it's a working hangar where you can smell oil and old leather. You walk right up to beautifully restored warbirds and civilian planes, many of which still have the grease and grit from their last flight. It feels less like a museum and more like stepping into a time when these machines ruled the sky.
Collection Highlights
You can't miss their stunning P-51 Mustang, a real head-turner painted in classic military colors. Alongside it, they've got everything from a rugged TBM Avenger torpedo bomber to classic civilian Pipers and Cessnas that tell the story of everyday flight.
Visitor Information
It's easy to find at 400 Airport Roadβjust look for the big hangar by the runway. Check their website for current hours before you head over, as they sometimes close for private events or when the volunteers are out flying.
Architecture & Building
The building is exactly what you'd hope for: a massive, no-frills aviation hangar with soaring ceilings and huge bay doors that open right onto the airfield.
