Lebedynsʹkyy Krayeznavchyy Muzey
About This Museum
If these old walls on Shevchenka Street could talk, they'd tell you the story of Lebedyn itself. The Lebedyn Krayeznavchyy Muzey has been the keeper of our town's memory for generations, from the Cossack era right up to the present day. You don't just see history here; you feel it in the carefully arranged displays and the quiet, almost reverent hush of its rooms. It’s a place where you can spend an afternoon and come out feeling more connected to this little corner of Sumy Oblast.
Collection Highlights
You'll find everything from ancient Scythian arrowheads dug up from local burial mounds to the intricate folk costumes our great-grandmothers wore. One of the real treasures is a room dedicated to the life and work of Yakiv Bachynskyi, a beloved local artist whose landscapes capture the soul of our region. Don't miss the recreated traditional Ukrainian hut, complete with a hand-painted stove and authentic household items that show how people lived and worked.
Visitor Information
It's tucked away at 37 Tarasa Shevchenka Street, easy to find once you're in the town center. Folks say it's best to call ahead if you're coming with a group, but for a solo visitor, just popping in is usually fine.
