It sits right next to the site of the old capital, giving context to the scattered stones you see across the plain. Inside, you'll find a fascinating mix of grand artifacts and everyday objects that tell a complete story. The centerpiece is a full-scale replica of a ger used by important figures, which really brings the nomadic court to life.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the massive stone turtle sculptures that once guarded the city, intricate clay roof tiles from Karakorum's palaces, and a vast collection of coins that proves this was a major crossroads of trade.
Visitor Information
It's located right in Kharkhorin, easy to pair with a visit to Erdene Zuu Monastery. The exhibits have good English descriptions, and popping in here first makes exploring the surrounding historical sites much more meaningful.
