Indian Heritage Museum Penang (இந்திய பாரம்பரிய அருங்காட்சியகம் பினாங்கு)
About This Museum
Tucked away on a busy George Town street, this place tells the incredible story of the Indian community's journey to Penang. You start by learning about the early labourers and traders who arrived, and then it just unfolds from there. It feels incredibly personal, like you're walking through a family's cherished photo albums and heirlooms. I was completely absorbed by how vividly they've captured the spirit and struggles of a whole community.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the stunning replica of a Chettiar moneylender's office, packed with old ledgers and strongboxes. The vibrant traditional costumes are dazzling, and there's a fascinating section on musical instruments where you can almost hear the music.

It's right at 221 Jalan Macalister, super easy to find in the heart of George Town. The staff are wonderfully friendly and seem to genuinely love sharing stories about the exhibits.

Housed in a classic pre-war Straits Settlement building, it has those tall windows and high ceilings that give it an airy, timeless feel, which perfectly suits the stories inside.
