Heritage Station Museum began its life as Pendleton's grand railroad depot, a bustling hub built in the early 1900s where travelers arrived on the Union Pacific line. Today, the complex has expanded into a charming village of historic buildings that tell the story of Umatilla County. You can wander from a rustic one-room schoolhouse to a massive barn filled with antique farming equipment, and yes, you can even climb aboard a bright red caboose. The atmosphere is wonderfully hands-on and unpretentious, feeling more like an exploration of the past than a formal museum.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the fully-restored caboose or the 1869 schoolhouse where you can almost hear the lessons of another era. The main building holds fascinating exhibits on local history, from the Pendleton Round-Up to the region's Native American heritage.

The centerpiece is the original Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival-style train station with its stucco walls and distinctive arched windows, surrounded by a collection of relocated historic structures.
