Guayaquil Municipal Museum
About This Museum
People come here to really understand how Guayaquil came to be, from its ancient roots to the bustling port city it is today. You start in one room surrounded by pre-Columbian pottery and end up in another staring at a beautifully mounted blue morpho butterfly. It’s the kind of place where you can spend an hour just marveling at the intricate goldwork from local cultures. By the end, you get this layered sense of the land and its people, all under one roof.
Collection Highlights
The archaeology room has these fascinating ceramic urns from the Valdivia culture, while the natural history section brings the coastal dry forest to life with its bird and mammal displays.
