Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area
About This Museum
Tucked high in the mountains of Miaoli, Guanwu feels less like a traditional museum and more like a living, breathing cathedral of nature. Its story began as a logging area, but it was thankfully preserved to become this sprawling 907-hectare sanctuary for ancient hemlocks and towering cedars. Walking the misty trails, you're completely enveloped by the sounds of trickling water and birdsong, with the air carrying that incredible, crisp scent of high-altitude forest. It’s a place that truly makes you feel small in the best way possible, especially when the cherry blossoms explode in soft pinks each spring.
Collection Highlights
The main exhibits here are all natural: the majestic 'King of the Forest' hemlock tree, serene waterfalls tucked away on hiking paths, and the breathtaking seasonal display of cherry blossoms that paint the landscape.
