Giantess Cave
About This Museum
So we followed this little gravel path along the Keflavík waterfront, not entirely sure what to expect, and then we saw it—a massive troll woman's face peering out from a crack in the mountain itself! Her name is Bárður Snæfellsás, and stepping into her cave feels like walking straight into an Icelandic saga. The whole place has this wonderfully weird, magical energy that's hard to explain; you really have to see her up close, with the ocean breeze blowing past. It’s no wonder local families and curious travelers like us are completely charmed by her.
Collection Highlights
The main attraction is the giantess herself—a colossal stone sculpture of a troll woman's head emerging from the cave wall. There's no fancy museum glass; it's just raw nature and folklore colliding in the most unforgettable way.
Visitor Information
It's totally free to visit and open all day, every day—it’s just a natural cave on the coast. Just plug '2C5W+H5R, Bakkavegur' into your GPS; it’s a short drive from downtown Keflavík. Wear good shoes for the gravel path!
Architecture & Building
It’s not a built structure at all, but a stunning piece of environmental art carved directly into a seaside mountain cave, blending seamlessly with the raw Icelandic landscape.
