General Crook House Museum
About This Museum
Believe it or not, this charming Victorian home was once the site of tense negotiations with captured Native American leaders like Crazy Horse. Today, it feels like stepping directly into the 1870s, filled with the personal belongings of its famous resident, General George Crook. You can almost hear the rustle of silk gowns and the clink of glasses from one of his famous parties. Itβs a surprisingly intimate look at military and domestic life on the frontier.
Collection Highlights
Look for the general's custom-made campaign desk and chair, built to travel with him on expeditions. Personal items like his fishing gear and a poignant portrait of his favorite scout add a human touch to the legend.
