Fondation Maeght
About This Museum
Perched on a sun-drenched hill in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the Fondation Maeght feels more like a village for modern art than a traditional museum. Light floods into the main building through tall, stained-glass windows by Braque and Ubac, while outside, you can wander for hours among the pines. It’s a place where Joan Miró’s whimsical sculptures share the landscape with Alberto Giacometti’s impossibly slender figures. The entire experience is a seamless blend of architecture, nature, and some of the most joyful art of the 20th century.
Collection Highlights
A labyrinth designed by Miró is a highlight, populated by his fantastical creatures. You'll also find Alexander Calder's bright red stabile 'The Snake' coiling through the garden and Marc Chagall's vibrant mosaics shimmering beside a pond.
Visitor Information
It's open daily from 10 am, but check their website for seasonal hours as they can change. Wear comfortable shoes—the hilltop grounds are vast and beautifully uneven.
