Folklore and Ethnic Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away in the charming mountain village of Chrisso, just a stone's throw from the ancient site of Delphi, the Folklore and Ethnic Museum feels like stepping into a lovingly preserved family home. It’s the passion project of Ilias Daradimos, whose personal collection forms the soul of this place. You won't find sterile glass cases here; instead, rooms are arranged to tell the story of daily Greek life through the centuries. The air is thick with the scent of old wood and wool, making history feel immediate and tangible.
Collection Highlights
Look for the stunningly intricate traditional costumes from the region, their embroidery telling silent stories. A fully reconstructed 19th-century kitchen, complete with blackened copper pots, feels as if the cook has just stepped out. Don't miss the collection of rustic agricultural tools and hand-woven textiles that showcase the incredible craftsmanship of a bygone era.
Visitor Information
It's a small museum, so you won't need more than an hour to soak it all in. Given its intimate size, it's wise to call ahead to confirm opening hours before you make the trip up the mountain. The location on Euthymiou Politi street is easy to find once you're in the village center.
