Cultural House "El Pacto"
About This Museum
You'd never guess that this vibrant cultural hub, a cornerstone of Pillaro's community, was once just a traditional family home. Now it pulses with the creative energy of local artists, its walls adorned with everything from contemporary paintings to powerful indigenous textiles. It feels less like a formal museum and more like stepping into the lively, colorful soul of the Andes. The air is often filled with the sounds of workshops or the quiet chatter of visitors discovering something new.
Collection Highlights
Look for the stunning Shuar tzantza (feathered headdresses) and the playful yet profound Tigua paintings on sheepskin, which depict village life with brilliant color. You'll also find rotating exhibits of modern sculpture and photography from artists across Ecuador.
Visitor Information
It's right on the main square, easy to pop into while exploring Pillaro. Just ring the bell if the door looks closed—someone is usually around. They don't keep strict big-city hours, so it's best to visit in the afternoon.
