Cultural Center of Mindelo
About This Museum
What really makes this place special is how it feels less like a formal museum and more like the vibrant, beating heart of Mindelo's art scene. Housed in a beautifully restored colonial building with a striking yellow facade, it's impossible to miss. Inside, the energy is palpable, with the soulful sounds of Cesária Évora often drifting through the air. It’s a living tribute to the creative spirit that defines Cape Verde.
Collection Highlights
You'll find an incredible collection of traditional Kriolu instruments and vivid paintings from local artists that tell stories of island life. One of the coolest things is their display on the history of 'morna' music, complete with old vinyl records and personal artifacts from famous musicians.
