Children's Museum Houston
About This Museum
I had no idea this place started back in 1980, born from a pretty cool idea that kids learn best by doing. And 'doing' is exactly what you see everywhere here—it's a total madhouse of happy, excited energy. You'll find kids completely absorbed, building crazy structures with giant blue blocks or getting themselves encased in a giant bubble. It’s less of a quiet museum and more of a playground for the brain.
Collection Highlights
The absolute must-dos are the Bubble Lab, where you can pull a giant bubble wand and enclose yourself in a shimmering film, and the Tot Spot for the littlest ones—a padded, whimsical world all their own. We also spent forever in Kidtropolis, a kid-sized city where they can run a grocery store or be a news anchor.
Visitor Information
Heads up, it gets packed, especially on weekends, so buying tickets online ahead of time is a lifesaver. It's right in the Museum District at 1500 Binz Street, so it's super easy to pair with a trip to one of the bigger museums nearby.
Architecture & Building
From the outside, it's this modern, angular building with lots of glass and bold colors that just screams 'fun inside'. It doesn't feel old or stuffy at all.
