People find their way out here for the quiet, mostly. They come to sit by the river and listen to the stories this old ground has to tell. You can almost hear the echoes of the colonial settlers who first farmed this land, and later, the determined hum of a Youth Service camp. It's not a place of grand monuments, but of lingering memories tucked under the shade of whispering trees. The real exhibit is the land itself.
Collection Highlights
The main attraction isn't behind glass; it's the sprawling grounds and the Sagana River flowing through it. Long-time locals will point out where the old administrative blocks stood and share tales of community gatherings that defined an era.
Visitor Information
It's a straightforward drive off the Thika-Sagana Highway near Gwa thamaki. These days it operates as a campground, so you can pitch a tent and soak in the history for yourself—just bring your own supplies.
Architecture & Building
What's left are mostly simple, functional buildings from the mid-20th century: whitewashed stone walls and corrugated iron roofs built to last, not to impress.
