BenCab Museum
About This Museum
You might not expect to find a world-class art museum at the end of a winding mountain road, but that's exactly the magic of the BenCab Museum. Perched in the Benguet highlands, it’s far more than just a gallery for Benedicto Cabrera’s iconic works, including his famous Sabel paintings. The experience deepens as you explore thought-provoking pieces from other celebrated Filipino artists. It’s a place where contemporary Philippine art seamlessly dialogues with timeless indigenous traditions.
Collection Highlights
The heart of the museum is, of course, BenCab's own oeuvre, but don't miss the fascinating Cordillera Galleries showcasing intricate bulul rice gods and vibrant tribal textiles. You'll also find rotating exhibits featuring other major figures in modern Filipino art.
Visitor Information
It's located about a 20-minute drive from Baguio City on Asin Road—the trip itself offers gorgeous mountain views. Wear comfortable shoes; the multi-level building is built into a hillside and leads to lovely gardens and a functioning farm below.
Architecture & Building
The building is a striking modernist structure of concrete, glass, and steel, designed by BenCab himself. Its clean, angular lines are beautifully contrasted with the lush, green mountain landscape it inhabits.
