Babur Garden
About This Museum
Perched on the slopes of Sher Darwaza Mountain in Kabul, the Bagh-e Babur (Babur's Garden) feels like a world away from the city's bustle. This isn't just a park; it's the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Babur himself, a man who yearned for these cool, terraced gardens long before they became his tomb. You walk up through fifteen distinct levels, each one a geometric patchwork of flowerbeds and water channels that hum with a quiet, ancient order. It’s a profoundly serene place, where history is written not on plaques but in the very layout of the land and the shade of its old trees.
Collection Highlights
The white marble mosque built by Shah Jahan and, most significantly, the simple, dignified grave of Emperor Babur, which stands as the garden's quiet heart.
