About This Museum

Tucked away in the heart of Charleston, this place is a total surprise package. You walk in and one minute you're getting hands-on with pulleys and light exhibits that make science actually fun, and the next you're admiring some really beautiful paintings and sculptures. It’s the kind of spot where kids are completely captivated, but adults find themselves just as engrossed. We ended up spending way more time here than we planned because there was just so much to touch, see, and do.

Collection Highlights

The blend is what's so cool—you can build a masterpiece with giant blocks in the science area, then wander into a quiet gallery to see rotating displays of fine art from local and regional artists.

Visitor Information

It's super easy to find at 1 Clay Square, right in downtown Charleston. If you've got a family with curious kids, it's an absolute must-do to burn off some energy while learning a thing or two.

Architecture & Building

It's housed in a modern, welcoming building that fits right into the cityscape, nothing overly fancy on the outside but packed with great stuff inside.
