Arizona Capitol Museum

About This Museum

Believe it or not, Arizona's government once operated entirely from this single building. Today, the restored state capitol feels like a beautiful, sun-drenched time capsule from 1901. You can wander right into the old House and Senate chambers, where wooden desks and vintage inkwells await, and even stand in the original governor's office. It’s a surprisingly intimate look at the birth of a state.

Collection Highlights

Don't miss the gleaming copper dome on the second floor—a brilliant tribute to Arizona's 'Five C's' economy. The museum also holds Arizona's original U.S. Constitution and lets you see how legislative votes were recorded on a massive, hand-operated board.

Visitor Information

Best of all? Admission is completely free, and it's open weekdays. Parking is easy and also free in the dedicated lot just west of the building.
