Al Hashemi Marine Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away in the Rumaithiya area of Kuwait, this place is a total surprise. You walk in and are immediately dwarfed by the sheer scale of the traditional wooden dhows on display—it feels more like a shipyard than a museum. The centerpiece is the massive 'Al Hashemi-II,' a fully-built dhow recognized as the largest of its kind in the world. It’s honestly breathtaking to stand next to something that represents such a deep connection to Kuwait's maritime history.
Collection Highlights
The star is undoubtedly the Al Hashemi-II dhow, a monumental wooden ship built right here. You can also find intricate models of various boats and exhibits showcasing traditional navigation tools used by Kuwaiti sailors.
Visitor Information
It's located at 832Q+HP2 in Rumaithiya, and from what I've seen, it's generally well-reviewed. Definitely check current opening hours online before you head over, as they can sometimes vary.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is modern and functional, designed with a huge, hangar-like space to accommodate the enormous vessels inside.
