It wasn't just a noble's residence; it was the administrative heart of the region, an 'amtmanis' being a state official. Stepping inside feels less like visiting a sterile museum and more like poking around your great-grandfather's attic, if your great-grandfather had been a Baltic German estate manager. The rooms are filled with the everyday objects that tell the true story of Latvian country life, from grand ambitions to simple necessities.
